Ryan Lopez takes Buggy and Truggy at Alabama Nitro!

The Alabama Nitro was a Blast containing the Mid South RC Pro Series held in Wilsonville, Alabama. The track conditions were by far the best I’ve seen. We had all day Friday practicing to get our vehicles ready for qualifying on Saturday. There was some stiff competition and I knew I had to get my stuff right in order to TQ and win.

The first round of qualifying was pretty much my safe run in Truggy and buggy. Both Vehicles were great but just couldn’t get a solid run in. I ran VP Pro Medium Flexx Turbo Trax throughout the whole weekend on buggy and truggy. My lap times were very consistent in my other qualifiers. My 2nd round of qualifying wasn't so good having bad luck in both classes which I ended up 4th overall in buggy and truggy. I did some changes to the truggy which had helped me in the 3rd round in TQing and buggy was handling great which also TQ'd the 3rd round. When it came to the 4th round of qualifying I knew I had to push it in both classes in order for me to TQ for the final events. In truggy I made too many mistakes in my heat which gave Alan Burton the TQ for truggy. The 4th heat of buggy went really well. Alan and I was swapping positions throughout the qualifier making it intense but coming to the end I came through with the win that put me first in the Final event.

In truggy the battle was between Alan and I in the beginning of the race. It was pretty intense, my VP Pro Turbo Trax for truggy were very hooked up. As the race went on Alan got up to a 19 second lead due to me wrecking. At the half way through the race I started slowly catching up with Alan having problems towards the end which I was able to secure the lead and take the win.

In Buggy the race started off with Alan in front by a second with me right on his back door. Going towards the rhythm section Alan had a mess up which gave me the lead on the second lap. From then on I lead the race towards the end. Alan and I pretty much kept the same distance from each other for a long time. I was running the Medium Flexx Tubro Trax which were very consistent throughout the whole race. When it came down to the last 2 minutes of the race, I had to keep my pace which ended up taking the win.
